Across the globe, LGBTIQ+ communities continue to face structural exclusion, discrimination and violence. In both Latin America and Eastern Europe, human rights defenders working for gender and sexual diversity often operate under increasing pressure, facing threats, criminalisation and marginalisation — yet they continue their work with an impressive resilience.

Join us on 4 September at De Kargadoor for an evening of critical dialogue and solidarity, where we bring together human rights defenders from Latin America and Eastern Europe to explore the shared and divergent realities of their struggles. Together, we will reflect on the systemic roots of LGBTQI+ exclusion, the impacts of rising anti-gender movements, and the strategies being used to build resistance and care within communities.

This public event is organised by Peace Brigades International (PBI) Nederland, as part of our commitment to amplify the voices of human rights defenders and create safer spaces for exchange. We also highlight our ongoing work through Shelter City Utrecht, which offers temporary relocation and support to defenders at risk.

Please note: participation is only possible with prior registration. See you September 4th!
